Concerning Chat during matches

7 May 2020 by Reuben Salimu

Dear All,

Please watch the following video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRS2NsWpcB0&feature=youtu.be

And as well see the attached document. Pass this onto each of your teammate’s, including anyone ‘new’ who joins your roster going forward.

The vast majority are complying with this so thank you, but for absolute clarity:

In 2020 Chess matches use of the chat is forbidden. This applies for all players, and for the private messages and the ‘club match chat’ and you must turn the safe-mode on as tournament rules throughout the entirety of your games and not contact your opponent through Chess.com afterwards.

(if you wish to do so for legitimate reasons contact the opposition captain using/and use another forum, if they are not a junior of course)

This is for safeguarding reasons, and it could take just one incident for the whole tournament to be shut down, and safety is the most important thing for everyone. 2020 Chess reserves the right to ban players, teams and make points deduction if necessary.

Apologies if this appears ‘over the top’ but safety is the most important thing in life and this is the world we live in.

Any questions or issues please let me know as soon as possible,

Best wishes with thanks and stay safe,

Peter Hornsby
